About

Privacy knowledge without a hidden agenda

PrivacyGear.nl was built as an independent information platform about privacy and security. The goal is not to warm visitors up for a funnel, but to organise useful information better, write it more clearly and keep it publicly available.

Why this site exists

Privacy information is fragmented. Some of it lives in technical documentation, some in audits, some in forum threads and some in marketing copy written by companies that also want to sell something. For most people, it takes too much time to turn that into a reliable view.

PrivacyGear tries to reduce that work: clear steps, real trade-offs and context. Not everyone has the same risks, budget or technical threshold. That is why the site uses profiles, guides and critical reviews instead of generic advice for everyone.

What you'll find here

  • Practical guides — from password managers to GrapheneOS and network security
  • Situation-based profiles — which advice fits your risk level and technical threshold?
  • Critical reviews — what works, what disappoints and what is mostly marketing
  • Resources and references — organisations, documentation and channels worth your time

How we want to work

No advertisers, no tracking, no required accounts and no sponsored recommendations. Claims should be dated, substantiated and correctable. If something is judgment, it should remain recognisable as judgment.

More on sources, corrections and independence is on the editorial policy page.

Language

All content is available in Dutch and English. Dutch-language privacy content is scarce and often too thin or too commercial. PrivacyGear aims to offer a more useful alternative.
